Post-screening discussion

For their 1st Friday in January, Meaningful Movies in Wallingford will screen A Bold Peace at 7pm. This film explores how Costa Rica dismantled their military and how they have survived with safety and relative prosperity for nearly 70 years without a standing army.

A Bold Peace juxtaposes the national policy of demilitarization with their investment in education, health, and the environment. It has been reaping the benefits ever since.

“This film is very timely. . . There’s a lot of confusion in our world right now, and A Bold Peace offers a unique perspective. The film shows that there is another way. I think it will be eye opening for people who think that we need to bolster the military in order to stand our ground, whereas Costa Rica has shown that the military is not always the answer.” – Erika Floriani, Director of Oldcastle Theatre Company in The Bennington Banner (Vermont), May 3, 2017.
